The cooling collar is designed to provide a relatively large contact area on either side of the neck, which can be cooled using crushed ice to create a 'heat sink' effect in the tissues that surroung the artery and vein.  Three elastic straps are strategically located so that 'one size fits all' and provides adequeate pressure around the horse's neck to hold the collar in place.  Preliminary investigations show that horses tolerate the collar particularly well. 

The collar was designed by Mr Bownlow and manufacturered by Markey's Saddlery
